Be Still and Know that I am God

In these stirring words from Psalms 46:10, we see an invitation to stillness and quiet in a world of stress, insight into the mystery and wonder of God, and into our spiritual mind. My wife finds that her mind needs time to contemplate the many tasks that lie before her each day and how she can get all of it done. In a cozy chair in a quiet room she hides herself to avoid distractions.

We all need stillness and calmness in our lives and to slow ourselves down in a sophisticated world that exists outside our front door. We have events and activities that merit our attention that all of us experience in our busy lives.

All human beings often have issues that pervade our livingness. An example is mental health. Paul McCartney lost his mother at age 14. He was in a dark mental state. Later that week as he slept, his mother Mary appeared to him in a dream. She spoke to him and stated “it is going to be all right. Just let it be”. This was timeless advice to Paul when he needed it. Actually, it is timeless advice to all human beings when things outside our control happen to us. After his mother’s transition, he sat down on a couch when he wrote these words, “in times of trouble Mother Mary comes to me speaking words of wisdom, let it be”, a modern hymn that reminds us to be calm and still at times we are troubled.

This song tells us that whatever we are faced with we can have hope and trust in God that we can walk forward with our head held high and that God cares for each one of us. We all need wisdom in life and we have the assurance that our thoughts are Divine. Our thoughts will help us, heal us and bring peace to our lives. We never walk alone with scriptures like “Be still and know that I am God”. You are the God of your own life and entitled to live your best life on this planet.

Psalm 46 beseeches us to quiet our souls, and to live every day to have complete peace in your mind, spirit and heart and take time to slow down, relax and meditate. Then with peace and calmness we can better engage fully in the tumultuous world we all live in.

We can use affirmative prayers to connect with Spirit. Prayers are a time to center ourselves in thoughts that uplift ourselves and others we are with. In addition, we can share our love with friends, relatives and companions we are gifted with.

How do we slow down and slow down best? One way is you can create a room for meditation, personal growth and as a way to reflect on your life and things you can do to better the world you live in. We all need time to listen to God’s voice in this Universe, to be aware of our  Good, God gave us, to be more conscious of the thoughts we have, and to be inspired to do all we can to be ambassadors for God.

I   request that you read and apply this article to your life. We are all busy at doingness, not beingness. I want you to take time to lift up your mind, spirit and heart for yourself and for the best life you can have. Engage fully in life and speak to God for wisdom, and how to engage fully with God. Do what you can accomplish for your soul and be yourself fully. Have no regrets in your life and spread all your love to everyone you know every day and night.
